An induction melting furnace is an electrical furnace that heats charge via induction of electric current without contact. Generally, this involves a cylindrical copper coil thru which alternating current (high frequency) passes, creating a reversing magnetic field. The induced circular current (eddy current) within the charge produces the heating via ohmic/joule's heating. Hysteric heating (energy created by alternating magnetic field) occurs only in magnetic materials, up to the curie temp; after this, properties are lost. Skin effect dictates depth of penetration, inversely proportional to frequency.
